Spring Flower Walk Quaker Intentional Community Canaan

Friday, April 14, 2017 - 03:00 to 05:30

Join Claudia and Conrad Vispo from the Hawthorne Valley Farmscape Ecology Program in welcoming spring during a walk through the forests of the Quaker Intentional Community in Canaan. This will be a truely exploratory outing, because we have never visited the forests at this property in the spring. We plan to search for spring flowers along a headwater stream, in ancient and young forest, and compare and contrast the spring flowers growing in each of them. We'll learn to recognize them, hear about their ecology and lore, observe their insect visitors. Be prepared for some bushwhacking and uneven terrain.

This walk is co-sponsored by the Quaker Intentional Community in Canaan, who invites you to stay for a community potluck (which they host every Friday evening) after the walk.

All ages are welcome. The walk is free, but space is limited. Please register with Claudia Knab-Vispo (fep@hawthornevalleyfarm.org or 518-672-7994) to reserve your space and receive directions.
