FEP Open House with special guests

Thursday, August 3, 2017 - 06:00 to 08:00

Please join us and special guests on Thursday, August 3 for our monthly Open House, here at the Creekhouse (1075 Harlemville Road) from 6-8pm.
We'll be joined by our colleagues and collaborators from Ulster County, Kerissa and Kemp Battle of the Community Greenways Collaborative.  Kerissa has spearheaded a state-wide modern citizen science network, The New York Phenology Project (NYPP), that engages people in observing seasonal plant and animal changes (phenology).  NYPP has facilitated the creation of over 30 phenology monitoring sites in Eastern New York, including here at Hawthorne Valley.
Kerissa has also been involved in our work with historic phenology data in New York (this can be explored further through our online historic browser or our Progress of the Seasons webpage).  In partnership with FEP, Kerissa is currently undertaking a comprehensive historic/modern data comparison using this historic dataset and modern data collected by observers in the New York Phenology Project.
Kerissa will share more about their work and will host a stimulating conversation with all of us.  We hope you can come!
